You don't need any previous experience, paddling is very easy! Our kayaks are double sit-on-top (unsinkable), and the canals we paddle through have no currents, waves or tides. Maximum safety: our kayaks are very stable and practically impossible to capsize. It's an ideal activity for families with young children, older adults and groups of friends.
Your furry friends are part of the family! If there's a free seat, they ride along for free and don't need to paddle. Safety rules apply: pets must be secured with a harness or carrier during the ride, calm and respectful behavior is expected, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after them.
We recommend: quick-dry, breathable clothing (ideal for the humid climate), long sleeves (to protect your skin from sun and cold), a towel or spare clothes (in case it rains or you get wet), a cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Pants also give you extra comfort and protection.
Children from age 6 can kayak in Xochimilco with La Kanoa. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the activity. Children aged 12 to 17 can kayak on their own with written authorization from a legal guardian.
Photographers and nature lovers, get ready! Bring your camera and shoot to your heart's content, this place deserves it. Check the weather before your tour and, if rain is likely, bring protective covers for your camera and lenses.
We paddle through the canals and visit the most iconic chinampas, such as the Island of the Dolls and Laguna de Tlilac, and get to see the Axolotl, an endangered endemic salamander considered a deity by the Aztecs for its cell-regeneration abilities. Along the way you'll admire the chinampas, spot local wildlife, and can stop at a chinampa with restrooms if needed.
Yes, to confirm your booking we ask all clients to leave a deposit, which is deducted from the final price. Deposits are non-refundable. If you need to reschedule, let us know at least 48 hours in advance; otherwise the deposit will be forfeited.
